Control mechanism.-In Bowden actuating devices such as used on cycle handle-bars, grooves or channels are formed in both the base part and the coverplate to constitute a housing for the end of the Bowden casing and a passage for the cable which is attached to the hub of the control lever. The base part A and cover-plate F are each provided with a wall or part G in which a groove H for the cable L and a lower channel J for the nipple M or end of the Bowden casing, are formed, the grooves being aligned to form a closed passage of circular cross-section when the parts are assembled as shown in Fig. 1. The cable end is attached to a disc D<2> forming the hub of the control lever D which is mounted on a boss O on the base part A and may also engage a boss F<2> on the cover-plate F. The parts may be aligned by engagement of a peg on the coverplate in a socket P<2> in the base part, and retaining friction for the control lever provided by a spring washer O.
