Abstract

207,937. Moorhouse, W. Oct. 6, 1922. Billiards, tables for.-An appliance for protecting the upper surface and outside edge of the cushion rail of a billiard table comprises a metal protector plate in one or more portions, the outer edge of the plate being turned over to protect the outer beading of the cushion rail and the inner longitudinal edge being turned at an angle and adapted to fit in a narrow longitudinal clothsecuring groove in the cushion rail, the protector plate having at each end a pendant tongue provided with holes by which the plate is secured to the cushion rail, and holes for receiving the projections of the pocket plate. As shown, a protector plate of brass, aluminium, &c. has a curved end n fitting the beading of the cushion rail a, and has a down-turned portion m for securing the cushion cloth l within a narrow groove in the cushion rail. The ends o of the plate are turned down and are secured by screws p. Holes q in the ends are provided for the reception of the pins on the pocket plate. The curved end n may be separate from the remainder of the protector plate.
