Abstract
207,855. Darroch, J. Sept. 4, 1922. Joint-making packing. -High-pressure joints in metals, glass, silica, stone, stoneware and porcelain, are formed by inserting in rectangular or oval grooves therein round or other section rubber or other packing of the same or of less cross-sectional area than the grooves. In the calorimetric bomb joint, Fig. 1, round material C is placed between flanges A, B which are tightened. A two - grooved joint is shown in Fig. 11. Either or both flanges may be grooved, or one may have a tongue to fit a groove in the other. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 1278/73, 1087/97; 8727/05, [Class 12, Bearings &c.] ; and 28242/09.
