Abstract

A tabulation mechanism for a typewriter, of the printing head type carried by a carriage, comprises a tabulation rail (1) capable of displacing longitudinally and presenting a series of riders (2) which can be selected individually. A stop (19) of the rail (1) is capable of cooperating with one stop (67) set in active position forming part of an assembly of tabulation stops (67). This mechanism further comprises a driving device (28, 35-41) for driving the rail (1) longitudinally in the upstream direction with respect to the writing direction, a cam (28) for the active positioning of the riders (2) selected before a longitudinal displacement of the rail (1) and linking means (50-62) between a driving shaft (29) and the assembly of decimal stops (67), presenting clearances (51, 53, 54) so as to drive one stop (67) selected in active position only after a longitudinal displacement of the rail (1). <IMAGE>
