Abstract

The tooth cleaner comprises a sleeve of or lined with water retaining material, and carries a cleaning agent. The sleeve may be of such dimensions as to be mountable on a user's finger and in this case may be closed at one end to define a finger stall.

Description

SPECIFICATION A Tooth Cleaner This invention relates to a tooth cleaner and has as an object the provision of such a cleaner in a convenient form.
The invention provides a tooth cleaner comprising a sleeve of or lined with water retaining material, carrying a cleaning agent.
Preferably, the sleeve is of such dimensions as to be mountable on a user's finger.
Preferably, the sleeve is closed at one end to define a finger stall.
Preferably, the sleeve is water absorbent or has a lining which is water absorbent.
Preferably, the sleeve is of or has a lining of pile or woven material.
Advantageously, the cleaning agent is impregnated in the sleeve although it may, alternatively, be adhered to the sleeve.
Desirably, the cleaning agent includes a flavouring agent. It may also include a bleaching and/or a dental abrasive.
One embodiment of a tooth cleaner according to the invention will now be more particularly described.
In this embodiment, the tooth cleaner is intended to replace or be used in addition to a tooth brush and paste, and comprises a finger stall of water absorbent material, such as pile or woven material. Alternatively, the stall may just be lined with water absorbent material.
A cleaning agent is impregnated in the material of the finger stall and includes a suitable flavouring agent, a dental abrasive and a bleaching agent, such as sodium perborate. In addition to serving as a bleaching agent sodium perborate produces a profuse amount of oxygen when mixed with water which kills the anerobic (germ carrying) plaque on the tooth surface.
In use, the finger stall is mounted on a user's finger and dipped in water before application to the user's teeth. The finger stall is disposable and a plurality of finger stalls may be packaged and Instead of the finger stall, a sleeve may be used. Moreover, the finger stall or sleeve need not necessarily be of water absorbent material, although it should be of or lined with water retaining material as distinct from water repelling material. The dental abrasive and bleaching agent may be omitted.
The finger stall may include an elastic band at or adjacent to its open end to keep it in position on a user's finger.
Claims
1. A tooth cleaner comprising a sleeve of or lined with water retaining material, and carrying a cleaning agent.
2. A tooth cleaner as claimed in claim 1, wherein the sleeve is of such dimensions as to be mountable on a user's finger.
3. A tooth cleaner as claimed in claim 2, wherein the sleeve is closed at one end to define a finger stall.
4. A tooth cleaner as claimed in anyone of the preceding claims, wherein the sleeve is water absorbent or has a lining which is water absorbent.
5. A tooth cleaner as claimed in claim 4, wherein the sleeve is of or has a lining of pile or woven material.
6. A tooth cleaner as claimed in anyone of the preceding claims, wherein the cleaning agent is impregnated in the sleeve.
7. A tooth cleaner as claimed in anyone of claims 1-6, wherein the cleaning agent is adhered to the sleeve.
8. A tooth cleaner as claimed in anyone of the preceding claims, wherein the cleaning agent includes a flavouring agent.
9. A tooth cleaner as claimed in anyone of the preceding claims, wherein the cleaning agent includes a bleaching agent and/or a dental abrasive.

SPECIFICATION A Tooth Cleaner This invention relates to a tooth cleaner and has as an object the provision of such a cleaner in a convenient form. The invention provides a tooth cleaner comprising a sleeve of or lined with water retaining material, carrying a cleaning agent. Preferably, the sleeve is of such dimensions as to be mountable on a user's finger. Preferably, the sleeve is closed at one end to define a finger stall. Preferably, the sleeve is water absorbent or has a lining which is water absorbent. Preferably, the sleeve is of or has a lining of pile or woven material. Advantageously, the cleaning agent is impregnated in the sleeve although it may, alternatively, be adhered to the sleeve. Desirably, the cleaning agent includes a flavouring agent. It may also include a bleaching and/or a dental abrasive. One embodiment of a tooth cleaner according to the invention will now be more particularly described. 4. A tooth cleaner as claimed in anyone of the preceding claims, wherein the sleeve is water absorbent or has a lining which is water absorbent.
5. A tooth cleaner as claimed in claim 4, wherein the sleeve is of or has a lining of pile or woven material.
6. A tooth cleaner as claimed in anyone of the preceding claims, wherein the cleaning agent is impregnated in the sleeve.
7. A tooth cleaner as claimed in anyone of claims 1-6, wherein the cleaning agent is adhered to the sleeve.
8. A tooth cleaner as claimed in anyone of the preceding claims, wherein the cleaning agent includes a flavouring agent.
9. A tooth cleaner as claimed in anyone of the preceding claims, wherein the cleaning agent includes a bleaching agent and/or a dental abrasive.
