Abstract

192,956. Morgan, O. T. March 18, 1922. Metal pipes and tubes. - Air pockets are formed between a rubber lining and the wall of a metal water pipe, tank or the like, by ribs, indentations or corrugations either on the exterior of the lining or in the interior of the pipe &c., to prevent damage by the freezing and expansion of the contents. Circumferential ribs e, at the ends of a pipe length or at intermediate, intervals, with longitudinal ribs d extending between them, form the air pockets c. The lining may be affixed to the pipe &c. by adhesive applied to the contacting surfaces. In a long pipe length, only the more exposed sections of the pipe need be provided with the lining.
