Abstract

4813. Barbour, T., and Suffern, W. S. March 29. Heckling - machines.-The catchbar lever is moved in one or both directions by a force brought into and taken out of action by a member positively connected with the machine drive, and a stopmotion is provided to be brought into action automatically in the event of any obstruction causing the lever to overcome the force. The catch-bar lever A is operated by one or other of two weighted levers B, B<1> carried by a bracket c on a positively-driven oscillating shaft C. The bracket c carries set-screws c', c<2> which alternately engage the levers B, B<1>, supporting the weight of one, and releasing the weight of the other, so that it will operate the lever A. The levers B, B' are connected to a rod d so that, in the event of any obstruction and the stoppage of the lever A, the machine may be stopped. A spring arrangement may be substituted for the weight operating the lever.
