Abstract

Paper and like bags, folding down mouths of after filling. - In a machine for closing packets, the packets are forwarded to the successive stations of work by grippers 9 mounted on a rail 10 and actuated so as to move forward, downward, rearward, and upward at intervals. The horizontal movements are effected by links 23, 25, and the vertical movements by bars 12 carrying guides 11 in which the bar 10 works. To secure the packets in the several positions, a rail 30 with recesses 31 is reciprocated so as to bear on the packets in the intervals of the feed. The grippers are adapted to lift the packets far enough to prevent them from gliding along the bottom of the channel 4.
