Pivot adjustments.- In hinges for swinging mirrors, stays for box lids and motor - vehicle wind - screens, closet seats, casements, &c. and of the kind in which an annular disk or ring attached to one of the parts to be hinged together is frictionally gripped between a pair of outer disks or equivalent members attached to the other part, the outer disks or members are connected by two or more screws which produce the clamping pressure on the intermediate disk or ring and also prevent relative rotation of the outer members. Figs. 1 and 2 show a hinge for a swinging mirror; the annular disk e is gripped between outer disks a, b, which are connected by a pair of screws c passing through holes therein into the mirror member d. Preferably the disks a, b are also connected by tangs i pressed up from one of them. Fig. 4 shows a hinge for the arms f, j of a jointed box-lid stay. In this case, the annular disk e rotates on a shoulder formed on the outer disk a.. Fig. 5 shows a hinge similar to that shown in Fig. 4 but adapted for swinging windows or casements. In a hinge for the swinging seat and cover of a closet, two annular disks attached respectively to these parts are gripped between three outer disks by securing-screws. Fig. 11 shows a hinge for a motor-vehicle wind-screen and similar co that shown in Fig. 4. The screws c are however covered by a detachable cap l, and an additional locking-bolt and nut m, n are provided for locking the hinge in any position.
