Self-alining bearings; oil, retaining.-An enclosed bearing - box for the heavy rollers of calendering and mangling machines &c. is mounted on a rocking block f so that the bearing can accommodate itself to slight deflexions of the shaft. The block f is seated on a cylindrical surface on a block g detachably secured between the cheeks of the machine, and is capable of rocking in one plane only. The curvature of the surface of the block f is preferably slightly greater than that of the block g, as shown by the dotted line f<1>.
