Abstract
26,535. Nicolle, C. J. H. Nov. 19. Bacterial products.-Bacterial cultures for use in making vaccines are treated with a fluorine compound so as to prevent autolysis. The bacilli are emulsified, for instance, in a solution of sodium fluoride, centrifuged out, again emulsified and centrifuged, and finally suspended in the fluoride solution at a concentration of one thousand millions per c.c. The fluoride compound may be precipitated out before use, by the addition of a salt of barium, calcium, or lead.
