Abstract

1318. Heer, Sch÷nfeld, & S÷hne. Jan. 19, 1911, [Convention date]. Opening by cutting. - A friction disk h, a toothed wheel f, a handle b, and a circular cutter i are mounted on a shaft o secured to a member a having at its lower end a clamping- screw l. A second friction disk g and a toothed wheel e are secured to a shaft mounted in a slide c adapted to move in a slot n in the member a. A cam d is adapted, on rotation, to move the toothed wheels into engagement, to move the disks to grip the rim of the can m, and to cause the cutter i to pierce the can. The lid of the can is then cut from the body on rotating the handle b.
