Abstract

8818. Olivetti, C. April 13. [Addition to 18,285/09.] Type - lever actions; keys.-The action described in the parent Specification is improved as follows. (i) To soften the touch of the keys a yielding connexion of the following character is provided between each key cap and its stem. The key cap 1 is secured tc a tube 2 which can slide on the key stem 47 and is formed with slots 45 engaging a pin 46 on the stem, a spring 49 being arranged between a cap 50 secured to the stem and a cap 51 loosE on the stem. The pressure of the finger is transmitted through the spring until a pin 44 in the tube 2 engages the head of the stem 47. The tube 2 is provided at the bottom with a cap 52. (2) The cranks 3 for connecting the key stems and other parts of the action to the shafts 4 are adjustably secured by means of studs 54 entering flanges 53, the shafts being formed with roughened surfaces to engage the cranks.
