Abstract

27,568. Thompson, W. P., [Amme, Giesecke & Konegen Akt.-Ges.]. Nov. 26. Reducing c e m e n t s ; ball and like mills.-In a wet process for the treatment of rock materials, more particularly the raw materials for cement, in which the material is crushed in a stone-crusher e, coarsely ground in a wet ball mill g, and then finely ground in a wet tube mill h, means are provided at the outlet of the tube mill for separating out any coarse material or particles of stone broken off the flint stones or quartz pebbles employed in the tube mill. The device may consist of a rotary drum or cylinder a immersed in the ground sludge discharged from the mill h. The particles of sludge and stone adhere to the drum and are removed by scrapers situated at different distances from the drum and on opposite sides thereof. The stones may be removed from the ends of the drum casing, and the slurry passes into, an agitating-vat i and is pumped into a receiver l, from whence it flows into the rotary burning-kiln m.. The tube mill h may have two compartments h<1>, h<2> charged with iron or steel balls and flint stones, respectively.
