Abstract

11,896. Siemens Bros. Dynamo Works, and Pickering, B. G. May 13. Coils; insulation.-Relates to the construction and insulation of armature coils several of which, a, b, c, Figs. 2 and 2<a>, are bunched together at one side in a single group at the bottom of a slot, and at the other side are arranged at the top of more than one slot. According to the invention, each such coil is made in one piece with a bend at n in place of the usual soldered connexion between its separate halves. In winding the armature, the bottom bars are insulated individually and, by means of tubular wrappings, as shown in Fig. 3, are gathered. intogroups which are placed at the bottoms of the slots all round the core, the bars which are to go at the tops of the slots meanwhile resting upon the armature surface. The loose top bars. are then gathered into the top groups and after being insulated in groups by wrappings, as shown in Fig. 3, are placed in the tops of the slots.
