Abstract
2546. Hoffmann, R. Feb. 8, 1909, [Convention date]. Blowing; moulding.-Relates to the manufacture of glass bobbins for spinning, and to other hollow glass-ware. A blank is formed in a blank mould d, Fig. 6, fitted at each end with a neck mould s, Figs. 2, 6, 7, and 9, in the form of a pair of scissors. Plungers b, c are introduced from above and below respectively by hand-levers h, o, Fig. 2, and pierce the blank throughout its length. The blank mould d is then removed and replaced by a finishing - mould z, Fig. 7, in which the blank is blown to the desired shape as usual. The moulds are then opened, and the finished bobbin &c., Fig. 8, having a neck N at each end, is removed.
