Abstract
9830. Potter, W. J. April 22. Jackets and covers; tyre attachments to rims. -In tyre covers of the type which comprise an inner or tube-supporting part E, Fig. 2, and an outer tread part J, the latter is made with flaps j, Fig. 1, by which it is secured to the rim. The flaps may be beaded to engage the edges of clincher rims, or may be formed with curled-in edges K adapted to be retained, as shown, by the flanges b of a channel-shaped felloe ring B, and rings L with lugs m through which pass alternate security bolts H. The free edges of the tube-support may be ribbed at q to engage a circumferential groove in the tread part, may overlap, or may be formed as shown in Fig. 4, the stiffened edges f<1> of the inner part engaging corresponding projecting shoulders j<1> on the outer part. The inner part may be split transversely into any convenient number of sections, and also longitudinally as shown in Fig. 5, each part being secured by beaded edges engaging inturned edges formed on the channel-shaped felloe band.
