Controlling-apparatus, arrangements of hand and foot gear in conjunction with. - The brakes on the steering- wheels of a motor-car are operated by articulated rods extending directly from the side of the chassis. The brake shoes 5 are forced apart by the rotation of a cam 4, which is connected to the brake rod 6 by a universal joint in line with' the steering-pivot 7. The other end of the rod slides in a spherical joint in the frame 19, and is provided with an arm 16 whereby it is actuated. In a modification, the rod 6 carries pins sliding in grooves in a boss which carries the arm 16 and is rotatably mounted in the frame 19.
