Ploughs; cultivators.-A one-way tilling - implement comprises a motor - vehicle and one or more frames adapted to be reversed or raised by turning about an horizontal axis and carrying dishshaped disks which are driven from the motor and are adjustable in various ways. The effect on the soil may be varied by driving the disks at different speeds. The main wheels 2 are driven from the motor 4 by chains 7 and speed and differential gearing, and the steering- wheels 3 are actuated from a handwheel 5 between two seats. The disks 8 are adjustably secured on a cardan shaft 9 by split sleeves or bosses tightened by bolts. The shaft 9 is driven by chain gearing 15A, 15<B>. The inclination of the shaft 9 is adjustable by means of a hand-wheel 18, gear-wheel 19, and toothed segment 20. Scrapers 21 are adjustably bolted to a grooved support 22 which is adjustable about the shaft 9 by toothed segments 27, 28 and pinions 29, 30 on a hand-wheel shaft 31. The disk-carrying frame 10, 11, 12 may be turned about horizontal pivots 35, 36 into the position indicated. It is moved by means of ropes or chains 54, 55 passing over elevated guide-pulleys and wound on drums 50, 51 which are driven by bevel and chain gearing. When the frame is vertical, a projection 60 engages a clutch lever 45, and thus moves a clutch 42 and reverses the rotation of the drums. In a modification, disks are mounted at both ends of the machine on pivoted frames, which may be adjusted simultaneously or separately by such means as a hand-wheel 70, Fig. 4, worm gearing 69, chain wheels 71, chains 72, rods 73, and springs 74. Each disk may be mounted on a separate shaft 76 carried by arms 78, 79 pivoted in a bracket 87, which may be rocked, without stopping the machine, by rotating a worm shaft 84. Each disk is driven by a rope 90 from the shaft 89, about which the frame is rotatable, adjustable guide-pulleys 91 being provided. The grooved support 92, to which the disks are connected, may be adjusted about a pivot 93 at one end. In another modification, the disks are mounted on two symmetricallyarranged shafts connected by universal joints to a driven shaft. Flat disks may be mounted in front of the disks 8.
