Abstract
13,069. Mavor & Coulson, and Mavor, S.M. June 19. - Undercutting &c. -In coal - cutting machines of t h e type in which a cutter bar is furnished with a helical fin, the shanks of the cutters fit holes formed in the fin, the axes of which are approximately tangential to the periphery of the bar, and the cutting edges of the cutters are approximately coaxial with their shanks. In the form shown, a cutter bar A is provided with a helical fin B in which holes C are formed tangential to the periphery of the bar and at right-angles to its axis. Each hole receives the tapered shank D of a cutter, the shank being approximately co-axial with the cutting- point. The head E of the cutter has a flat underside engaging a flat surface on the bar. The holes C extend entirely through the fin to facilitate removal of the cutters.
