Abstract
15,905. Sprague, H. M. July 27. Cleats or holders.-A trunk harness comprises a casing 5, Fig. 2, with pulleys 6, 7 forming guides for a rope or cord adapted to pass transversely and longitudinally round the trunk. The rope is held in the casing by a knot 15, and after passing transversely round the trunk and over the pulley 7, it is passed longitudinally round the trunk, and finally leaves the casing having passed over the second pulley 6. When drawn tight the rope is held by a gripping-device 19 pivoted at 19<A> in the casing and held in contact with the rope by a pin 22 sliding in a casing 21 and pressed out by a spring 23. The pin 22 has a slot 25 working on a pin 24 in the casing 5. The rope may be tightened by pulling its free end 13, the spring 23 allowing the gripping-device 19 to come out of contact with the rope. To release the rope, the casing 21 must be turned to the position shown in Fig. 3. In a modification, Fig. 6, the gripping- device 19<C> is formed with a cam, surface 19<B> so that, on turning the lever 20A, the grip 19<C> is positively disengaged from the rope. A casing with one pulley may be used when the trunk is required to be wrapped in one direction only.
