Abstract

1561. Booth, H. S. Jan. 23. Wrapping - materials. - Packages are protected from damage by water or chafing, by forming the covering of cloth or paper which is coated on one side with some waterproof material, such as pitch, marine glue, rubber dough, &c., capable of being softened and rendered adhesive by heat. Each layer of such coated covering is attached to the preceding layer by means of a hot iron, and the corners are sealed with melted pitch or marine glue so as to form a continuous covering.
