Abstract

6411. Cooch, H. March 16. Brush - holders for carbon brushes are constructed by arranging on the supporting- bar a bracket a held by set-screws b, and furnished with two flanges c, c which carry ribs d, d serving as guides for the holder proper, which is shaped to fit them. The brush n is held to this holder e by the nut p, and is slotted as at o, and a spring i, acting on the adjusting-screw h, carried in an extension g of the holder e, pulls the brush on the commutator. The screw h can be lifted and removed through a slot in the end of the extension g, and a slotted plate prevents the holder from fouling the commutator when the brush wears, or is removed.
