Abstract
1032. Whittingham, G. H., Jan. 21, A.D. 1902, [date applied for under Patents Act, A.D. 1901]. Heating by electricity.-A resistant wire helix B is connected at its ends, and at intermediate points if desired, to conducting wires f, g covered with asbestos or other fireproof insulating-material. These are brought through the helix to one end, and passed through holes in a porcelain or other insulating plug c, which is held between a screw cap a and one end of a metal tube A. A tube d of glass, porcelain, or other insulating-material is placed on the helix, within the metal tube, the spaces are filled with sand, and the metal tube is closed by a second screw cap b. The appliance is used as a heater or radiator.
