Abstract
3860. Baker, W. J. Feb. 14. Steam separators.-Relates to improvements in the steam separators described in Specifications No. 5516, A.D. 1895, and No. 15,384, A.D. 1897, the object being to separate more completely the oil or water from the exhaust or other steam. The angle-iron bafflesA, B are arranged in double rows, as shown in Fig. 2, so as to divert the steam current, as shown by the arrows. Instead of angleirons, V-shaped baffles arranged in double rows, inverted and upright, may be employed. In the rectangular separator shown in Fig. 6, the inclined plates K prevent splashing; or, instead of these plates, short lengths of tubes may be used to pack the water space. In a similar form of separator, the steam enters below and passes upwards.
