Abstract

197,421. Goddard, A. J. Feb. 16, 1922. Securing collars on shafts.-A locking-device for securing members on the shafts of bar-bells and dumb-bells comprises a collar 3 mounted on the shaft 1 and a movable pin 5 mounted in a radial hole in the collar and normally pressed inwardly by a spring 8 in the recess 4, but provided with means such as the head 11, or a lever, whereby it can be withdrawn. The head 6 of the pin 5 engages one of a series of recesses 2 arranged in longitudinal rows on the shaft 1, the holes in the various rows being staggered or arranged spirally round the shaft. A fixed collar 13 is provided on the shaft 1 and weights 14 placed on the shaft are secured by the movable collar 3.
