Abstract
197,222. M³ller, W. June 15, 1922. Stop-gear operated by jolting or tilting of vehicle. -A conducting contact dement, such as a ball or a drop d of mercury is movable in a guidetube f, so that if the vehicle upsets the contact element moves to one end of the tube and short-circuits the ignition-circuit of the engine. The tube f may be of insulating or conducting material, in the former case a wire c passes through the tube, and the mercury contacts with this and with the end of wires b which project into the tube. The tube f may be constricted as at t at the bend in order to damp the movements of the mercury. In a modification the tube may be straight and the contact element may be a plunger or plungers normally maintained in The central position by springs.
