Abstract

196,430. British Thomson - Houston Co., Ltd., and Hanna, C. T. Feb. 14, 1922. Contacts.-A controller contact finger has an L- shaped support 2 with a socket 3 forming a pivot for the cylindrical end of an arm attached to the trough-shaped member 1 carrying the contact tip 4. An adjusting bolt 5 passes through the member 1, its lower end being screwed into the member 2, the bolt 5 having a collar 6 above which is formed a squared portion which carries a similarly perforated washer 9. A spring 7 extends between the washer 9 and a nut 8 which is made rigid with the upper end of the bolt 5 by splaying apart its split upper ends. The washer 9 is maintained in its adjusted position by projections 10 co-operating with slots or depressions 11 on the upper side of the member 1 and when the bolt 5 is rotated by the nut 8 for adjusting the spring tension the projections 10 ride over the surface of the member 1 between the slots 11. Current is led from the lead 14 to the member 1 by a flexible connector 15, the contacts being secured on a bar by studs 12 and a plate. 13. To remove the pivoted member 1 it has to be rotated until its depending sides are clear of the member 2, when it is moved axially out of the socket 3.
