Abstract
194,308. Drõger, A. B. March 3, 1922, [Convention date]. Inhalers.-In administering a mixture of gases or vapours for anµsthetic and like purposes the quantity of mixture to be inhaled is regulated by means of simultaneously and similarly variable supply ports for the two gases whilst the proportion of each gas in the mixture is regulated by varying the individual gas pressures. The apparatus comprises gas bottle A, B, reducing valves a, b, regulating screws c, e, gas conduits g, h, and a valve i adapted to vary simultaneously the gas outlets from the conduits g, h and to deliver the mixed gases to a mask l. The valve i comprises a casing m, Figs. 2 and 3, formed with supply passages n, o, and a rotary mixing chamber p formed with tapering arcuate slots q, r registering with the passages n, o so as simultaneously and equally to vary the size of the outlets. The ratio in which the gases are mixed is varied by adjustment of the reducing valves a, b by means of the screws c, e, or by eccentrics, or by interconnected regulating members. Pressure gauges d, f, mounted on each of the reducing valves are graduated so as to read directly in percentages, and are each provided with several series of graduations corresponding to the various total delivery rates set by the valve i.
