Abstract
194,079. Procter, H. A., (Buell, R. N.). Jan. 23, 1922. Tip-wagons; tank wagons.-Relates to means for loading and unloading a receptacle in which pulverized fuel is stored or transported from place to place by road or rail, without loss and without exposure to the atmosphere. As shown, the receptacle is a closed container 3 mounted for tipping on a chassis 4 and provided with stirrups 19 for lifting it off the chassis. The container is provided with an inlet spout 10, two outlet spouts 24, guide-plates 34 leading the material to the outlets and gate-valves 13, 27, for the inlet and the outlets. For loading, the container is tilted and the inlet is connected with the storage bunker 7 by a flexible tube 9 and quick-acting couplings 11. Valves 16 on the bunker and 14 or 15 on the container are connected by a flexible hose 17 to permit displacement of air in the container. For unloading, the container is tilted and the outlets 24 connected in a similar manner to a bunker at a lower level, the return air pipe being connected to the valve 15. The flow may be started, or the container discharged without tipping, by admitting compressed air or inert gas at 35.
