Abstract

9898. Mumford, A. G. May 10. Water-tube boilers i feedwater, heating.-In a boiler of the kind described in Specification No. 8498, A.D. 1897, and comprising two longitudinal water chambers A and a longitudinal steam drum B connected by water tubes D, the tubes of the lowest row on each side are arranged to lie in direct contact with each other for the greater part of their length, so as to form a wall or baffle. They are separated near where they enter the steam drum and water chambers, the lower openings thus formed being covered by plates G. A feedwater-heater is placed in the uptakes on each side consisting of U-shaped tubes J projecting from chambers H. Each tube is preferably set with its parallel arms horizontal, but with the connecting portion in an inclined plane.
