Abstract
9701. Cooper, C. May 9. Smoke-consuming; blast apparatus; liquid-fuel fittings.-A steam-jet or similar blower fitted in the front of a steam-boiler or other furnace is provided with a movable nozzle H by which the jet of steam and air &c. may be directed over every part of the firebars. The apparatus may also be used for liquid fuel. The nozzle H, which is splayed laterally, is enclosed in a protecting-casing I, and is worked by a rod K jointed to a crank arm on the spindle J. F is the steam nozzle. The air supplied may be heated by passing it through pipes or air boxes conveniently arranged in the flue.
