Abstract
963. Dresser, F. Jan. 13. See-saws.-A boom A supported by standards B carries cars C designed to rotate within the outer cups D. The boom is operated by ropes or chains E passing round wheels or drums F, and may be rotated through 180‹ or 360‹, or, if desired, it may be brought to rest in a vertical position. The cars are maintained in the horizontal position by rods, wire ropes, or chains R, such rods or chains constituting a 'parallel 'motion.' Fig. 3 shows the construction of the cars C, in which K is the outer stationary part, and L the inner rotatable part, the latter part being carried upon a series of rollers P, running upon a circular path G, and mounted upon shafts H attached to and radiating from an annular ring W. One or more of these rollers and shafts are connected by suitable gearing to an electromotor M, the rotatable part of the car being maintained in position in relation to the outer part by means of a pivot J fitting into a socket piece T.
