Abstract
11,311. Ehrhardt, H. May 6. Drawings to Specification. Rolling.-Tubes and wire of iron, steel, copper, and other metals or metallic alloys are made by taking a hollow billet or ingot and inserting into it a solid rod of somewhat smaller diameter, rolling the whole to the required size, and finally withdrawing the solid rod or wire from the tube. Several tubes placed one inside the other and on a central solid rod may be roiled together. The inner surface of the tube, or the outer surface of the solid rod, may be coated with another metal by placing a seamless shell tightly inside the tube or hollow ingot or over the solid rod and rolling them together as described above.
