Abstract
187,987. Fues, E. Oct. 29, 1921, [Convention date]. Paper, treating with special materials. - In a process as described in Specification 10560/12 in which parchment paper is rendered suitable for spinning threads &c., by treating it with acid substances, for example aluminium sulphate, and formaldehyde and )then drying it on rolls 'at approximately 100‹ C., the treated paper is prevented from becoming brittle by a further drying treatment at a temperature below 100‹ C., for example, 60-85‹ C. The quantity of acid substances used may be reduced to less than 1 per cent by weight of dry paper, whilst the percentage of formaldehyde used may be increased up to 4 per cent. Substances such as benzoic- and salicyclic acids may be added to give a disinfectant action.
