Abstract
185,044. Osthoff, W. Nov. 1, 1921. Stoves for singeing fabrics.- In a singeing- device for textile fabrics, guide-walls 3 are arranged on each side of the vertical mouth of the burner so that hot gases issuing laterally are deflected in an upward direction; the burner extends across the width of the device, and openings 18 for supplying secondary combustion air are provided between the guide-walls and the mouth of the burner. The apparatus may be used either with or without the cylinder 22 or the usual curved singeing plate, with or without removable lining bricks or plates 3<a>, 3b for the guide-walls 3, and with or without deflector plates, as 20, on the two sides where the fabric enters and leaves the apparatus. The gaseous fuel passes along a channel 9, through a transverse hole 10, back along a second channel 11, and then through an opening 12 to the jet 13, 14, complete combustion of the fuel and of any gases produced by the singeing of the fabric being ensured by air passing into the burner casing 2 through an opening 15 and issuing through rows of perforations 18 in the upper plate 17. The casing may be packed with a granular substance as shown at 23.
