Abstract

184,212. Marks, E. C. R., (Creamery Package Manufacturing Co.). March 8, 1921. Butter-cutters.- A machine for cutting blocks of butter into small portions comprises a frame 1 carrying a press cylinder 2 for raising the platen on which the butter rests, and a cutter frame 5 with wire cutters 6 fixed to the top of the box a which encloses the block of butter. The press piston 21 is operated through ported pump-pistons 22 which force the oil from a reservoir 3 as a handlever 25 is oscillated, and the platen is upheld without back-lash in any position. By depressing the operating-lever to either extreme position, a valve 24 is positively depressed to allow the oil to flow back from the press cylinder to the reservoir so that the platen may fall with a damped motion. The wire-cutter frame is clamped down at its ends bv rods 9 attached to a pivoted frame 11 actuated by a rotatable cam-plate 15 to clamp the frame
