Fly-wheels. - The fly-wheel of a gyroscope is made up of annular sections which are bolted together in groups or have interlocking parts and are secured to the hub by spoke elements which yield radially but are relatively stiff axially of the wheel. The spoke elements may be curved radially, or radially and axially, or have circumferentially extending arms. The annular sections of the wheel 65, Figs. 3 and 4, are grouped by bolts 81, secured to the cut-out, radially-curved spokes bv double dovetail keys 73, and are pressed against shoulders 75<1> by detachable clamping- members 89. In the construction shown in Fig. 6, the sections are secured to radially and axially curved spokes 166, 166<1>. In a further modification, Fig. 7, the sections are secured by arms 98 to the spokes 97.
