Abstract
177,065. Trussell, C. D. March 30, 1921. Post files.-An opening-device for loose-leaf binders of the type in which half-rings are mounted, on plates and are spring-controlled in the open and closed position, comprises a plate lever D mounted in the plane in which it moves, and provided with a short arm a engaging beneath the plates F, and a longer arm formed with a thumb-piece G, the longer arm being confined between lugs d projecting from the back plate E. The longer arm projects through a slot c in the cover-plate C, a shoulder-piece h forming a stop limiting the upward movement of the lever, which thus has a rocking bearing on the back plate. The lever has a resilient engagement with the lugs d and, as shown in Fig. 9, is made of double thickness by bending a blank, forming tongues r, r<1> which tend to spring apart. The cover-plate has portions p swaged inwardly to engage notches or slots q in the back plate.
