Abstract

174,446. Firman, B., and Nicholls, E. Oct. 28, 1920. Folding seats. The pivots A of tipup seats for use in theatres &c. are fixed in the standards F and work in inclined slots B formed in brackets C carried by the undersides of the seats. The slots are so disposed that when a seat is in use the pivots A ride to the rear ends of the slots B and when the seat is turned up the pivots ride to the forward ends of the slots, the seat being retained by gravity in either extreme position. The action may be assisted by springs G. In a modification, the pivots turn with the seat and are mounted loosely in the standards F.
