Abstract

160,927. Guthrie, W. S. Dec. 30, 1919. Spray carburettors.- In a carburettor of the kind having a passage 40 for conveying uncarburetted auxiliary air from the main air passage 2 to the engine side of the throttle valve 4, the passage 40 does not communicate with the fuel jet 10<1> and therefore supplies uncarburetted auxiliary air at all engine speeds. The passage 40 is shown inclined at 41 to direct the air current parallel to the plane of the disc 4 when this is partly open, thereby diminishing sounds caused by interference of the air streams. The valve 4 is made thin, and in closing controls the air outlet 41. In a modification, the passage 40 is controlled by a set screw. Specification 161,136 is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 146,651.
