Abstract
169,695. Linnemann, F. Oct. 1, 1920, [Convention date]. Hank type; reagents, adding in measured quantities to treating liquors.-Apparatus for the washing, dyeing, or other liquid treatment of fibrous or artificial filamentary materials, such as artificial silk, artificial horse-hair, &c. in open or closed hanks, comprises a vertically reciprocating frame b extending over the whole of a series of baths, and carriages d on the frame for supporting a number of hank rods a. The carriages are moved at intervals along the frame b when it is in its raised position, and suspend the hanks over successive baths, the frame being lowered quickly to immerse the hanks completely, and being raised quickly to traverse them from bath to bath. The hanks are placed on at one end of the apparatus and delivered continuously at the other end. The hank-suspending members a, Fig. 2, are U-shaped and have a reinforcing-bar g, the hanks being placed on a rod f, which may be rotated mechanically or by a handle j. The hanks may be sprayed when they are raised out of the liquid, and the reciprocation of the frame may be employed for supplying to one or more baths a predetermined quantity of treating-fluid.
