169,468. Ross, H. C., Marris, H. C., and Walker & Sons, Ltd., W. March 26,1920. Disinfectants &c.-A composition for preserving hides, skins, &c. from deterioration by enzyme action contains end products of such action, such as peptones, aminoacids, and ammonia. Inhibitors of enzyme action, such as common salt, calcium chloride, or potassium oxalate, and germicides such as carbolic acid and xylene, may be added. The material may be applied as a powder, but is preferably made into a paste with glycerine or like hygroscopic material.
