Abstract

168,574. Spuhr, M. Sept. 3, 1920, [Convention date]. Closure members, rotary-disc.-A rotary-disc valve is provided with rollers between the rim of the disc and the casing. The disc 3 is provided with an opening 4 of the same area as the pipe 1, and an opening 5 which is slightly larger, and is fitted with two pistons 6, 7 having packing-rings. A spring 8 presses the pistons outwards against the sides of the casing, and antifriction metal bearing-rings 9, 10 are provided. The valve is turned by means of a worm 16 engaging with worm-wheel teeth 13 formed in the rim of the valve disc. Rollers 17 are provided between the disc 3 and the casing to minimize resistance to turning, and stops 19, 20 limit the amount of movement so that the packing-surfaces 9, 10 fit against the packing-surfaces 11, 12 when the valve is closed. In a modification, Fig. 6, travelling rings 22 carrying rollers 21 are used instead of the rollers 17.
