Abstract

166,278. Fielding, J. April 19, 1920. Addition to 4569/15. Upward-current classifiers.-In apparatus of the type described in the parent Specification, the outer casing 19 is provided with an inner removable drum 18 forming with the inner casing 16 an annulus bridged by helical vanes, and the grain delivery pipe 2 has a flared extension piece 1 telescopically attached to it into which a tangential water inlet pipe 10 is led. The amount of grain entering the apparatus is regulated by one of a series of shutters 8, each having a different sized aperture, which fits into the grain delivery tube 2, and a flap valve 12 is provided at the bottom of the apparatus for withdrawing stones &c. separated from the grain.
