Abstract
165,705. Aguirre, J. M. Nov. 6, 1920. Converting reciprocating into rotary motion.- The motion of the piston-rod 1, 2 of an engine is converted into rotary motion of a divided crankshaft 9, 9 by means comprising two toothed wheels 5 rigidly connected by a journal 3 attached to their flanges 4. Each wheel 5 is revolvably mounted on a crank-pin 7 carried by one of the sections of the shaft 9, and is in engagement with a fixed internally toothed ring 6 of twice its diameter. The device may be used to convert rotary motion of the shaft 9, 9 into reciprocating motion of a rod.
