Washing - machines with axially - working plungers and dollies.-Relates to means for oscillating the plunger, and consists in a manuallydriven shaft 16 with an attached ratchet wheel 17 that co-operates with a spring-pressed pawl 5 to drive in one direction a crank 4 which lifts the plunger shaft through a hinged connecting- rod 10 adjustably positioned by a spring 24<1> and a set screw 26. As shown in Fig. 1, the crank and plunger are both on the point of falling freely to their lowest positions. The tub is mounted on a spigot 14, guided by rollers 19, and revolved by a gear-wheel on the shaft 16 engaging teeth on the upper edge of the tub. In modifications, the rod 10 is replaced by levers or rollers, and the tub is rectangular, and has an oscillating motion.
