Abstract

2,3,5,5-Tetramethylhexanal is an excellent perfume. It imparts natural freshness and aura, particularly to the headnote of perfume compositions having a flowery smell. 2,3,5,5-Tetramethylhexanal can be prepared by oxidation or dehydrogenation of 2,3,5,5-tetramethylhexanol.
