Abstract

The oil-free, water-soluble and easily biodegradable corrosion-inhibiting cooling and metal-working agent contains alkali metal salts and/or amine salts of amidocarboxylic acids of the general formula <IMAGE> in the form of an aqueous solution or emulsion. In this formula, R<1> is an alkanoyl radical of a fatty acid having 6 to 20 carbon atoms, R<2> is the radical R<1> or the radical -(CH-(R<4>)-(CH2)n-COOH or a hydrogen atom, R<3> is the radical -(CH-(R<4>)-(CH2)n-COOH or R<4> is an alkyl radical having 1 to 3 carbon atoms or a hydrogen atom, m is an integer from 2 to 6, n is an integer from 0 to 2 and z is an integer from 1 to 6.
