1537295 Reeling apparatus CEFILAC 17 Sept 1976 [25 Sept 1975] 38655/76 Heading B8B A cable reeling apparatus comprises a drum 1 on which electric cable 3 is wound, electrical connections 5, 7 between fixed and movable parts of the apparatus to connect each conductor of the cable 3 to a supply cable 13 and a potentiometer 11 driven through gearing 8-10 to provide continuous signals proportional to the linear or angular displacement of the cable. The potentiometer is connected to a meter 12. The electrical connections comprise carbon brushes 5 and slip rings 7. The gearing 8-10 is a speed reduction unit. The apparatus is used in cranes and gantries. The cable supplies heavy current to a motor and light current to a control unit.
